in the lamp may not be too tight - app. 2mm.

Glasfiber wicks are normally used for oil lamps.
The maximum heighth difference - for all kinds of wick - between oil and flame is app.10cm. No wick can suck the oil for a larger distance. Food oils are usually thick, they dont suck as far.
Glas fiber wicks is very durable, it is not used up while burning.
Dirt in the oil will accumulate in the wick, it will shorten the lifetime.
Just cut off some cm to get clean wick again.
Please shorten the wick, so there will be no soot while burning!
Nominal diameter means, the wick was drawn through a hole with this measure. The hole in the lamp has to be 30 to 40 % bigger.
